Our monthly shoots take place the 3rd Saturday of every month. We have individual aggregate (scored) shoots for Rifle, Trade Gun-Target, Pistol, Shot Gun, Trade Gun-Birds and Tomahawk & Knife. Aggregate scores are recorded and ribbons are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Monthly scores are accumulated into a yearly score. At
the end of each club year (September) plaques and trophies are awarded to the top yearly shooters.
We have
separate divisions for Women and Men, as well as age divisions for Adult (18+), Young Adult (15-17), Juniors (11-14), and Peewee (6-10).
After the target aggregate shoots we
normally have a "Fun" rifle shoot of either Paper Novelty, Novelty or Trail Walk. We usually have the Trail Walk every 3rd month. Period clothing is not required but
is encouraged and will give you an extra point on the Fun Shoot.

Throughout the day we will have raffle tickets for sale ($1 each or 7 for $5). The raffle prize is usually a "period correct" item to add to your hoard. Proceeds go back into the club treasury. We also have a raffle drawing for Pee Wees only. Tickets for this are free. One ticket is given out to each Pee Wee in attendance. The raffle item is donated from club members. This is intended to encourage more youth participation. They are the future of our sport and we need to keep them enthused.
From October to May we have a Chili Pot for lunch. Club members each bring a can of chili to add to the pot. We always have enough for everyone attending. Donations of cheese, onions, crackers, corn ships and other goodies are happily expected, but not required. Coffee and hot water are also available during these months.
After lunch we all gather to throw the Hawk & Knife. This is a really fun time. Since everyone is all gathered around, everyone watches and heckles everyone else. It doesn't make for high scores, just good fun. Once we finish with Hawk & Knife most people go their way, except the diehards with Trade Guns and Shot Guns. This is the time we pull out the bird launches and let fly. This is for the serious shooters. Yes, there is still some heckling going on, but Shot Gunners do get pretty serious.
The day ends between 1:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon. It all depends on if we have a Trail Walk that day, and if you stay for the Shot Gun Shoot or not. All in all it's a great time.
