We are a family oriented club dedicated to the sport of Black Powder Shooting and re-enacting the lifestyle of the old Fur Trade/Frontier era (roughly 1750 to 1840). We do have a good share of single members in our fold, as well. We welcome anyone interested in Black Powder Shooting and/or experiencing life of the good ole days. Many of our youth members are active in Scouting Programs throughout the area. Many of our adult members are former Scouts and some are still active in mentoring roles.
Our monthly shoot is on the 3rd Saturday of every month. We start shooting at 10:00 a.m. Prior to this we have a brief meeting to discuss club business. Visitors are welcome to come early. In the non-summer months we have hot Coffee all day and Chili for lunch. We also have a raffle to help us raise funds for the club. Some of the raffle items are crafted by our own club members. You do not need any equipment, just come out and experience what we do. However, if you do have a Black Powder firearm bring it with you and join in the fun. Please note that we only shoot with "side locks". "In-line" rifles are not permitted. You can get a little more information about our Monthly Shoots here.
Our club sponsors several Rendezvous' throughout the year. Check out our Home page for specific events and dates. A Rendezvous is a great place to see what we are all about. Most Rendezvous will have a Modern Camping area and a Primitive Camp. Visitors are always welcome in the primitive camps to get a feel for that period in history. There will also be Traders around to buy trinkets and goods, many are hand crafted.
Some of our members are crafters. We have Blacksmiths, Carpenters, Gun Smiths, Seamstresses, etc, etc. All told, you should be able to find someone that can either craft anything you need, or give guidance on doing it yourself. In November we sponsor a Trade Show in which Crafters and Traders from all over the area come to present their wares for sale or trade. There are other such shows throughout the year. There should be links for these on this Website.
We have a new Shoot Site located on Fairdale Road about 8 miles west of Yamhill Oregon. Directions to our new range can be found here. We welcome everyone to come on out and visit us. We have members that live as far away as Olympia, WA and Lincoln City, OR. If your drive may be too far, we can certainly help you in locating a club nearer to you. There are many groups like ours throughout the Pacific Northwest and the United States. Check out the Links page to find other Northwest area clubs. Our main goal is to get people involved in our great hobby, regardless what club they are in. In fact, some "Buckskinners" are "Free Trappers". They do not belong to a particular club, but can be found at all Rendezvous throughout the land.
